BACKGROUND
In 2020, as part of its mission to professionalize African cultural journalists, the NORD OUEST CULTURES Association launched a strategic training program for art critics. Each year, cultural journalists are selected after a call for applications and enter a 6-month incubation process. The aim is to provide the basic knowledge and tools to make art criticism a real lever for the development of cultural industries on the African continent. So far, 18 journalists have been trained and work as art critics.
For its 4th session, the course is dedicated exclusively to English-speaking journalists.
OVERVIEW
Over a period of 24 weeks (approx. 6 months), the Introduction to Art Criticism program will provide participants with the tools they need to (1) describe, analyze and evaluate a work, an event or a practice in the entire artistic and cultural sector, and (2) master the rules of criticism, as well as all editorial genres (reportage, editorial, interview), and be able to apply them to an editorial line and an audience.

A copy of 2 critical articles already published
A letter of motivation explaining the reasons for taking part in the course
A letter of commitment to follow all stages of the program and pay course fees
